Author Topic: Now Accepting applications for a new developer of MuleTrader... [Locked]

I'm finding that I just don't have the time to finish this project that I've started. I've had it flagged as "beta" for a long time now, with a laundry list of functionality for the full release that I just haven't gotten done and I don't see getting done. DDO is coming out this next weekend and I plan on spending my free time playing it rather than developing plugins. I'll still play AC (and use MuleTrader myself!), I'm just not as committed to this plugin as it deserves.

So, with that said...

I'm looking to hand off MuleTrader to somebody else. I will continue to host it at muletrader.acplugins.net, and will just give the new dev ftp access to the site and extra permissions on the muletrader forums (as well as the source code, duh).

Requirements:

- Plugin development experience. This is a hard and fast requirement. If you've never developed a public plugin before, please don't ask.

- Real life programming experience. IE, at some point in your life, you've been paid to program. I'm not going to handhold here. I'm looking to pass it off completely.

- Commitment to finishing the functionality I've outlined for MuleTrader's "full" release.

- That you continue to provide me the latest source code if I request it.

- Knowledge of VB6. MuleTrader is currently a VB6 plugin. It doesn't have to stay that way, but that's where it is now.

That's it. Please PM applications to me with "MuleTrader Dev Application" as the subject. I'm going to accept applications through the end of February and if I feel like I've found an acceptable candidate, I will announce who that is on March 1st.

Thanks all,

Gol

I'm not quitting AC, I just don't have time to "finish" MuleTrader. I can maintain it's current status, sure, but it could be so much better, too.

If I can't find another qualified person to become the new Dev, I'll hang onto it and just maintain it as-is.

I can't take it over completely, but I'll throw in a few hours here and there to make some improvements.

One thing I want to see added is a "MuleInventory" tab or something, so you can upload the contents of a mule to my website again... which will need some updating as well I'm sure

From what I hear though, the tradebot itself functions halfway decent as is at the very least

You hear correctly. It works wonders as-is.

All my stuff is in VB6 so that is not a problem.

I still do stuff in VB6, but don't think I could devote the time required to do everything you would like seen done with this plugin. Keep it running, sure, but new stuff would be hard to squeeze in.
