<< well i did it for fun not to learn a language, if you have to know everything before doing something you get nowhere >>

Knowing how to code properly doesn't mean you know everything about coding. Knowing how to code properly helps prevent you from doing stupid things. I've been coding for some years now and I still learn new things.

There's a very good reason we say that Decal should NOT be a first project....

mainly because people who are new to programming think that decal should be "easy" and most of the time it isn't. We (as Decal Devs) do not want to answer "n00b" questions. Things people with programming experience should already know. We also don't want to spoon feed people answers or code. Decal takes work. Programming and learning proper technique takes work. If you aren't willing to research questions for answers on your own, and put in the dedication and time, what makes you think we want to assist? We had to go through the same problems as everyone else new to programming. I myself have been programming for over a decade and I'm still learning new things all the time. I'm nowhere near the "master" of programming, but I know how to program respecfully and properly.

These are things that take passion and dedication. If you have those things, then you should learn to program first, THEN attempt to program for Decal... not use Decal as a starter project and the Decal Devs as tutors. It's easier now than it used to be, but it's still not simple.

Before, the hurdle was that it took a LOT of effort to do anything. .NET and the Adapter have changed a lot of that.. sometimes for the better, but in some ways for worse.

I know one of my boyfriend's greatest fears is that he will stop learning. He can code, I promise!

And apparently my title is at least a little misleading I'll probably repost this on the Decal forums.

The only thing that I am going to add to this thread is that I feel sorry for her poor boyfriend. After he writes the plugin she will probably dump him or date him once a month when she needs an update.
