BS/2 was always the standard I ever measured any other type of plug-in that did comparable things, and none ever really came close.

No, really... trust me on this... you WON'T understand.... It's an ACF kind of thing...

I preferred Sixth Sense myslef, and switched to BS/2 when it stopped working.

BS/2 was the plugin I hated to play without.

Aye, it's too bad some of either the decal devs or the turbine devs don't build a basic plugin that would allow others to jump in and start adding functionality.

I've programmed numerous plugins prior to ToD, but to be honest, I really don't have the time/desire to spend a lot of time working on a plugin for ToD. The current forums and such are...unfriendly to just jumping in and working on a project.

Faile,

Now that you mention it how come we haven't seen BS3 yet? Hmmmmm...???

Aren't you glad you opened that can of worms again.

Tell you what Faile. I will let you off the hook if you write me a plugin that will itemize all the hooked items in my villa or even in the mansion for that matter. You could call it "Itemizer" or "What's in the Closet" or "House Keeper".

MagusOfAtlan: what are you talking about? Have you even attempted to program plugins lately?

the Decal.Adapter makes programming for Decal in .NET REALLY easy... The forums are helpful and friendly to those who attempt to help themselves.. And there are a lot of open source plugins and "basic functionality" plugins out there to use as reference, many of which were written by Decal Developers for the sole purpose of providing source code to those who want to learn from it, and use it in a new plugin.

So unless you've actually tried recently, I'd hold off on those sorts of comments.

Drakier,

Hey, not trying to cause trouble or anything but Magus said that Decal Dev's don't know the difference between a one or a zero.

He also said Drakier codes like a girl. What does this even mean? Do girls have inferior coding skills to guys? Are there any female plugin authors?

Don't ask me why he is talking smack! He is just like that.

ROFL Duri!!

Drakier - I'll check it out. My time's more limited than it was in the past, but I'm fair at VB.NET. The last time I looked I didn't see any sort of template programs, and comments made by numerous Decal Devs on this board have blatantly claimed that "If you aren't willing to put in the time to dig in and learn it all too darn bad." (Obviously not a direct quote.)

However, today, with decreasing number of plugins, the AC community needs all the plugin devs it can find.

That claim by Decal Devs is quite recent, by the way. If I recall, both Hazridi and Gouru have made claims along those lines. So that certainly doesn't encourage anyone to go look for template plugins, now does it?

Faile - you should have all sorts of time nowadays! I haven't heard you mention a thing about other games, you don't play WoW any more, and you haven't mentioned doing any more work on your house. Lots of time! ;P

Oh, I completely agree with them, and I myself have made that claim..

Doesn't mean we aren't friendly or aren't willing to help those who help themselves.. that is the important thing.

We aren't going to spoon feed n00b devs on how to program. We'll answer Decal questsions or questions that might not be blatantly obvious. The main difference being that we won't teach people how to program.

If you know how to program and you're having trouble with a specific aspect of Decal development, then we're more than happy to help in most cases.

We don't want to be a tutor, and we don't want to teach someone how to program. People should know how to program efficiently BEFORE attempting to make Decal Plugins. As long as you fit under that category, then you'll really have no issues with us or asking questions to us.

Most of the "n00b" questions about Decal itself have already been answered on the Decal Forums somewhere. So check out the forums if you have a question. If you don't find it there, check Google. If you still don't find it, ask.

(that goes along with the "helping yourself" stuff.. since we don't want to go to google and find the answer immediately. That upsets us.)
