Digero, tried to get GoArrow to update locations, and received the following message:


11:11:49 <{ GoArrow }> Failed to open downloaded locations file; make sure you have the right database URL and type selected (XmlException: Unexpected end of file has occurred. The following elements are not closed: atlas. Line 4840, position 1.)


I've tried a several times over the last few days, and the error message is consistent. The program gets to approximately 13% update of 1.37MB, then shuts down and gives the error. Database tpe and URL have not been changed from the default. The program shows 3920 locations in the database. Is there something haywire with the xml on Warcry?

I just tried updating and it worked for me.


Ashake: Try deleting the file cod_locations.xml from the GoArrow folder and clear your Internet Explorer cache. It could also be that your connection is timing out for some reason. Try right-clicking on this link and choosing to save it to disk. http://ac.warcry.com/atlas/atlas_xml.php Do not left click, as it will freeze your browser while it tries to display the XML. What is the size of the downloaded file?


Rascal: What URL are you using? Can you connect to http://ac.warcry.com ?

Digero - original locations.xml file was just under 800KB in size. I deleted it. Internet cache was clean (I do that daily before I start exploring for the day). The file you had me download was approx 2.3MB in size. I've copied that to my GoArrow folder. I'll see if everything is ok when I get ingame in a bit. The file is named atlas_xml.xml ... is GoArrow going to know what to do with this file with the odd name?


When I'd tried updating, it would show actively downloading ... up to 13%. Then the bar would flash blue (like a completed download) and the error message would report. It reported it was trying to download a file 1.37MB in size. Did not seem to be a timing out issue - but with dialup? Stranger things have happened Will post later with today's results!

Was there a file called cod_locations.xml in the GoArrow folder? That's the one I wanted you to delete


The file you deleted is the last successfully updated locations database -- so now GoArrow is using the locations database from when GoArrow was released. You probably should restore the old locations.xml file from the recycle bin for now until we get this fixed.


The file I had you download should be ~3.3MB in size. For some reason your download seems to be getting cut short before it completes. Just to double check, open up that file with Notepad or Wordpad (right click, Open With...), and paste the contents of the very last line in the file.


Check errors.txt in the GoArrow folder for any other errors too.


If you want, you can see if it works to download the file from my server instead of CoD's. This isn't a permanent solution, since this is just a static copy of the database and won't continue to be updated as the CoD database is updated (it's the one that I downloaded last night).


Change the download URL on the update tab to http://decal.acasylum.com/files/cod_locations.xml (again, don't click on that link, it might freeze your browser). Does the update complete successfully?

Yes, I thought the current locations file might possibly be interfering, so I deleted it. Restoring won't be a problem

After attempting again to update through the program, still aborts at 13% as before *sighs*. There is nothing in the errors.txt file. And to add insult to injury ... my favorites have disappeared too, but those are easily restored from memory


Am dowloading the file from your site ... will advise shortly (I hope) ...


Edit: Got the entire cod_locations.xml file (3.3MB) and have it copied into the GoArrow folder. Still does not explain the continuing problem of the download. Could it possibly be because the proper file was not found? Logged into game after all this entertainment - got the following:

This was after I'd copied the file you had me download from your site into the GoArrow folder. Let me know what you'd like me to try next On the update tab, it still is showing 12/10/2006 as the date last updated ...

i have had issues updating in the past, so maybe it is Warcry in this instance? the last several times i tried downloading it has corrupted my location files (Digero had to help me out of that one too. thx again! )


i just tried saving the 2 files Digero posted links to above, and the first time i tried warcry ( http://ac.warcry.com/atlas/atlas_xml.php ), it gave me a file 3.13Mb in size. the second time (overwriting, not clearing cache) it gave me a file that was 3.22Mb. slightly odd, so i tried the 2nd file, ( http://decal.acasylum.com/files/cod_locations.xml ) and it too was 3.22Mb. retrying warcry i had the same file size (3.22 Mb), however this time i believe the cache was coming into play, (either mine or my ISP) because the DL time was much shorter, so...


i just thought id throw that bit of info in there for you. i know Warcry has been acting 'odd' for me lately also; pages timing out, not loading properly, missing 'frames' (not exactly what they are, but, same effect), ect... perhaps that is part of the issue? or at least my issue?
