I read on Turbine's forum that this is the place for Decal support, so here I am.

I started up Asheron's Call again after a few years off. I can play the game without Decal fine. When I start Decal, then AC, after I click "next" at server select, and before the blue bulbs the screen is blank, with just the AC cursor.

I have uninstalled both AC and Decal, then reinstalled in C:\Asheron's Call and C:\Decal
According to Microsoft/Nvidia, everything is up to date.
Using Windows XP Pro
Nvidia Geforce 460 SE


I'd sure love to use GoArrow etc again, so any assistance is greatly appreciated.

The virindi bundle didn't install properly. Look on virindi's website wiki on how to uninstall it. After you uninstall the Vtank bundle see if decal works. Make sure decal is working before reinstalling vtank again.

Ok, I will do that now, but please note, this problem was happening before Virindi installation. Going to uninstall it now.

It looks like you are missing some of the updates from Microsoft. Manually run windows by opening IE and going to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com - You want to let the update run and go back to that site after the reboot until it says there are no more updates available. You may have to run the update two or three times before it gets everything installed and updated.

One new update since I posted earlier... I swear that was not there before

XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 3 is being installed as I type this.

There should be at least one more after it reboots. It looks like .Net 2.0 is not fully updated.

Ok..rebooted and updated again. I got two security updates. Installed and rebooted again. Windows update only shows Win Media Player 11 and Smart Card Cryptographic Service Provider Package left. I did not install these two.

The problem you described in your beginning post sounds like either a video card or directX problem, but you seem to have both of those installed and updated. Do you still get stopped at the same spot with a blank screen before the blue vials?
