When you say "I notice the lag most when I turn on Vtank" do you mean that
when vtank is off that you don't notice lag issue?

I don't use VTank but a guess would be that old toons are not configured in Vtank correctly.
I'd clear any settings in vtank where you select weapon/shield/casters etc and then add them back.
For some reason I suspect that old characters have invalid ID stored from one of the times Turbine
re-sequence ID numbers.

I just re-installed everything so the items have been reset, but I'll do it manually too and let ya know if that helps.

They do lag more when vtank is off as well, but it gets unbearable when i turn on vtank.

i've noticed this as well in a less analyzed way.

Since the last patch it seems to take longer to change characters in general.

What is interesting to me at least, is that I used to notice this on my laptop some months ago as being REALLY slow to log in, then all of a sudden it wasn't like that and was "normal" now it's taking a long time again, but this time on both my laptop and my PC.

I've really not changed anything other than adding mag tools, but i did that only about a week or so ago and the long login times began before that.

I can't say i notice it more or less depending on the born on date of the toon though....

What i do notice is that when running a route or just keeping vtank running (verses paused) i lag a LOT more on my mage and in certain dungeons more than others.

For example running a route on my mage on the bottom level of EO is painfully laggy while no big deal on my melee toons. Meanwhile as long as I keep my mage up at the slayers/slasher levels, it's not as bad (though still laggy with vtank active).

Freezing up while logging in is most likely due to GoArrow. Since the acmaps.com website has been down, GoArrow spends a bunch of time at login trying to load info from the site and won't let you in until it times out.

You could always disable GoArrow if this is a big problem.

So, the older chars lag slightly more without any decal enabled.

The HUGE difference is when I turn on Vtank.

Example:
My OLD UA char, will be SOOO laggy that he won't be able to change weapons without coming near death. The animation is almost completely lost. Even when he is attacking, you can't see the animation of him attacking. He cannot use the nav system at all unless i'm doing a SINGLE point nav.

My NEW Dagger char, will change weapons flawlessly, you can see every attack he makes, he can also navigate due to not over turning like my OLD UA.


I honestly can't tell you the difference in lag without Vtank enabled. TradeIt has the same effect as Vtank.

I think the problem might be that I used this same computer to run AC back in 2004. Is there anyway old embedded files might have an effect?

Just compared my chars without anything turned on:


Old char: 30% lag
New char: 0% lag

Vtank On:
Old char: 90% lag
New char: 5% lag


Those percentages are just my feelings on lag, not computer readouts or anything techincal.

If other plugins cause the same effect, it is likely that your computer does not have sufficient resources. Try reducing your video settings in AC: landscape draw distance, landscape detail, and possibly environment detail.

I already have graphic settings on lowest, on all chars.


What I don't understand is why my computer will run PERFECTLY with my NEW chars, and HORRIFICALLY with my OLD chars.

It has to be something with old files or something of that nature.

What level are the toons that are 'Old'?
Maybe it would be easier to re-roll then to figure out why. Course
you would be leaving us without a solution to the puzzle and
we know "House" does not like that.

Given that you said you did dual client "New" "New", I have to assume
your machine is ok with doing dual client. That makes me think that you
have some toon setting(s) different between 'New' and 'Old'. Get IG
with an old and new and make the old settings look like you have on your working new.
Sound/Graphic settings could be the cause.
