Is anyone else experiencing choppyness with the new Virindi Tank Bundle ?

For reference I have absolutely no choppyness or slow downs with any of the previous versions of Virindi Tank nor with using Lifetank. It's only the newest bundle that I installed.

With Vtank turned off in game, not running, everything is fine and frame rate is stable. The second I turn on VTank, even just to buff, everything gets choppy especially if there are a lot of people nearby. It makes the game almost unplayable. Again this does not happen with any previous version of Vtank.

I installed the Direct X libraries posted on this thread. Rebooted. I went to re-run the Vtank bundle and it wouldnt allow me to. The install button remains greyed out because its detecting the latest versions installed. In Control panel add/remove it only lists vtank so I removed that and ran the bundle again. It reinstalled just Vtank. I rebooted. I went into Decal and disabled everything, every other plugin including the rest of the vtank bundled packages, except Vtank. Upon going into the game the choppyness was slightly better but still there.

I'm running Windows XP with Service Pack 3. 512 Megs of Ram, GEforce 6700 with 512 Megs of Vram on a 2 Gig intel Processor. I have .net 3.5 and latest Decal builds. I even went so far as to stop every process in the process panel, no antivirus running, nothing but the net, explore.exe, decal, asheron's call, and rundll32.exe. When you turn on Vtank the choppyness comes back still, stop Vtank the choppyness goes away.

When I reverted to the previous build of Vtank everything was fine. No choppyness even with it running as it was before.

I just really want it for my 2 hander hehe.

Any ideas ? Also if someone could tell me how to do the export thing I will be happy to get that on here.

Thanks in advance,
Billy

So 0.3.1.0 works fine, but 0.3.1.5 does not?

I have noticed no problems here with the latest version - XP with SP3 as well.
The 512MB RAM are AFTER VRAM I hope? Even then it sounds a bit low, my AC clients usually need more than 512MB RAM, so I assume your PC is pretty busy using the swap file. If a RAM upgrade is not an option at the moment, you might try the following (read ALL before starting):
* clean up your harddrive (uninstall unused software etc) - especially the volume your swap file is/will be on (see next bullet)
* set your swap file to a fixed sized (I'd say 1500MB); you can do this by right-clicking on "My Computer" -> Properties -> Advanced -> Performance Settings -> Advanced -> Virtual Memory Change -> Custom Size; in case you have 2 equally fast HDs put the swap file on the drive that does NOT contain windows - in any case chose a volume at the beginning of the drive (ideally the first volume on a disk)
* after rebooting to apply the swap file changes, run defrag on the volume(s) that contain windows, AC and your swap file

I'm answering both of you in the same message. To Virindi, yes. The previous version is absolutely fine. It plays smooth with no problems. Its only when I use the newest .15 that the choppyness happens.

To Lino. Yes I have 512 Megs of computer ram and my Video Board (AGP) has its own memory at 512 megs. Its a GEForce 6700. I followed your directions and there is no change. I attempted to run a Colosseum run tonight and the game was just about unplayable with Vtank running. It became a slide show. I did do as you suggested. The swap file was set at 768 and I Upped it to its maximum of 1536.

Again If I go to a previous version of Vtank there is no problem at all. Its only this newest version. theres gotta be something with it.. How do I do the export thing so you guy can see it ?

The only things I can think of that have changed since 0.3.1.0 that would take more memory are the corpse cache values, and that shouldn't be a ton. I'm a little worried, though, about your 512mb of system ram. Given all the services that MS installs on XP, I would say that 512mb is a BARE minimum amount of ram to have on an XP system.

I would highly recommend, not just for vtank but for everything else as well, that you look into a memory upgrade. 1gb ddr2 sticks are around $20, and I think it would improve the experience you have with your system a lot.

To do an export, open the Decal agent (the Decal program in the quicklaunch bar) and click the export button.

Unfortunately its not an option. This is a Dell Dimension 8200. It uses the most expensive ram there ever was lol. 1 gig of ram costs several hundred dollars. You cant buy it cheap. I do plan to get a new computer but not for a while with Christmas coming up. Here is my Export:

Ugh, rambus!

Okay, how about this...start up the game in windowed mode and start windows task manager. See what it says for memory usage.

There may not be much to do...it is possible you could free some up by disabling windows services, though.

To Lino. Yes I have 512 Megs of computer ram and my Video Board (AGP) has its own memory at 512 megs.

Ah, VRAM as in VideoRAM, not as in VirtualRAM I thought you had one of those video cards that use system memory and have none of their own.
Are you playing in full screen or in windowed mode? And do you have "multiple views" in Decal turned on?

Lino, William plays in full screen mode (he's a clannie).

It sounds like what I get on my older version if the vtank files get too large on my way outdated version of vtank.
