A new version of AC:1 without housing and with 2009 graphics would be great.
How about keep the housing but without settlement portals ,so the world is big again as well as not quick access to every part of the continent in a few minutes run?

Well, AC:1 was my favorite game between November 1999 until November 2001. I never really liked how the addition of housing fragmented the server populations by having everyone off in their isolated homes. Of course, having your own home was cool though, but the drawbacks were too big IMO. A banking/auction feature would be great for an AC:3 though.

My biggest beef now that i am back again is all the constant buffing i forgot how painfull that was, AC3 Needs 5 buffs into 1 spell that would be nice, the less time i have to spend with Buffing/Running the better. I am sure however at higher lvl it does get alot easier.

Asheron's call 3 please! AC1 is severely out dated. Needs new graphics and more customization to classes. More character choices based off of races, there is really no difference between the choices on AC1, make the race choices more like AC2 (Lugian, Tumerok, Empyrean, etc.) Rideables would be cool but instead of doing the really terrible ones in AC2 make the mounts from actual monsters from AC1. Riding a shreth or ursuin or matekar would be way cooler than riding some garbage that they had in AC2 (even though the gold dragon reward for winning 5 races in a row was sweet!) Housing was a terrible idea, or at least the form of housing that they implemented in AC1 was. It would of been way better if they had more limited housing and forced the housing settlements inside the cities. I know in AC2 the Cities were quite big and only a few of the buildings were actually able to be entered. The rest of them were just giant blocks that you could not get into even though they had doors! The cities would actually feel like A CITY! Keep the quests exactly the same. They are totaly awesome in both games. The quest rewards from the first game were what kept me and my friend in the game as long as we were and the quest xp in the second game was a great way to get people to group together and a good way to level characters rather than grinding away. Either way after they shut down the second game I said i would give ac1 another shot and i played for just a few months and could not stand the game anymore. The only way i would ever play another asheron's call game is if they released a 3rd game, which i know will never happen after the failure of the second.
oh yeah /rant off!

Creating AC3 would be wonderful, but I don't think it would be a great marketing strategy to call the new game, AC3. AC is known for alot of problems, macroing, etc. A new name, updated graphics, but not so graphics-heavy that you can't fight multiple creautres. All new continents, dungeons, quests. Races that actually mean something: I.E., bonuses on certain attributes according to race, race specific skills, etc. Also, a system where everyone doesn't have to have the exact same hp's, items, etc.
Re-roll incentives to keep the game going would be nice too

Compare Asheron's Call to any other MMO out there and this game doesn't stand a chance. If they want to get new blood into the Asheron's Call world they need to just start fresh with a new game. There is nothing about this game that could even be compared to the new MMO's out there. The combat is just plain boring, graphics are severely dated. The only thing that may be better is the lore. I really enjoyed the story behind the original Asheron's Call. I find it very humorous that when I see excuses as to why AC2 failed was because the combat mechanics were not similar to the first game......who in their right mind would want mechanics like that? You sit there and either swing your Sword/Axe/Spear/Dagger/(insert any number of melee weapon here) high/mid/low or you use a bow and arrow or you use a spell, and you change your attack to the vulnerability of the monster. PRETTY DAMN BORING! The combat in the second game was by far superior to this games. Much more exciting and took by far more skill! The die hards are the only thing keeping this game alive. The amount of new life that the game draws into it presently, is fading!

I played WoW for less than 3 months awhile i was recovering from knee reconstruction. Played on a laptop laid up in bed. The game was pretty and the combat was fun, but the thing i did not like about it was the community was terrible. I also played this game for well over 4 years off and on since 2000 on 2 different acounts. I played Asheron's call 2 for its entire life span. I also played the Final Fantasy MMO, Phantasy Star Universe MMO and like i said above i played WoW for a few months. None of them matched the community and fun that i had in either of the Asheron's Call games, especially the second. Sounds like you need to experience a few more games.
***EDIT*** I would love it if Turbine reopened the AC2 servers on a play for free type game like DDO. I havent looked into how exactly it works but theres a good amount of people out there that would love to experience that game again.

Well, I'm downloading a trial now, I haven't played in many years, and thought I would give it another go. Even WoW has failed to hold my interest as long as AC did back in the day. The game is good, the interface, and the graphics are sorely in need of an update, but I think a remake of AC1 with a streamlined interface, new graphics, but otherwise exactly the same, or almost exactly the same gameplay would actually attract new people to it, and may even pull some from WoW. AC is more story based though, and may attract a different crowd completely than WoW.
