Any word? Since both LOTR and DnD have gone FTP, what do you guys think the chances of AC going free to play are?

I would say none. AC was built on late 90's technology, no way they could implement an in game 'store' to pay for F2P.

Lots of stuff was not possible and they did it. Nothings impossible, the hard part is to get the funding to hire the guys to create the technology.

It could be, but they would have to make the game a lot more user friendly to appeal to the masses.
1. Automate buffing for one thing
2. Make something like GoArrow standard
3. Make all spells purchasable in game on a vendor
That would probably do it.

it would require a lot of overhaul of the super old engine to support free to play, or so the devs have said on the turbine forms. so it is more likely that theyd relaunch ac2 as ftp then ac going free to play.

At this point they could just revamp and relaunch Asheron's Call.
Aside from the handful of people here and who still play AC, no one knows it even existed.
