I don't have fond memories of LAX, but other than that I haven't had too many issues with airports. My favourite is probably either Atlanta or Minneapolis.

Worse:
Newark - no decent place to eat (Delta terminal at least) lack of places to sit, dirty, of the 30 times I have flown in there I have never flown out without a delay and many cancellations.
Detroit - attitude there sucks big time
Atlanta - I have flown to Atlanta (on my way to elsewhere) of the 10 times its been a stop, 5 of my flights were cancelled.
BEST:
SeaTac, Minneapolis, Portland, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Vancouver

It really depends. I dislike a lot of the smaller regionals because the food options are usually crap. As for the major airports my least favorites are
Dallas Int.. its a mess, terminals are all over, security lines suck worse than anywhere I've been.
Philly. Mostly because everytime I go anywhere that I have to fly out of Philly there are flight delays. (good places to eat though)
LAX. Its ugly, too spread out, not good food options.
Chicago O Hare.
Atlanta. Too big, security is a nightmare
Edit... Totally forgot about Newark and Detroit, everyone who works at the Detroit airport needs attitude classes.

Yeah. I had a lay over in Milwaukee yesterday and there was only 3 options in the C Terminal before you exited the secure area. It was disappointing 
I like Atlanta and Minneapolis but those are the ones I know the best. Tampa is pretty good, it has a lot of shops and places to go before you go into security so that's nice for people who have to wait, however the airport is old and kind of dingy but for a "major city" it is pretty easy to navigate and the lines are usually short. Orlando is nice and very clean but always busy and full of people with really big suitcases that have apparently never ridden an airplane before so traveling through there, while cheaper than most, is usually not worth the headache.

I fly Newark to West Palm a couple of times a year. Newark sucks but West Palm makes up for it.

Chicago. Delays construction and delays.
Atlanta - Just the delays things. Not a bad place to eat.

LAX sucks ass. Some guy in our group made the mistake of routing us thru there going to and coming from Japan. It's completely horrible the way they have to shuttle you to different areas for a connection then you have to stand like friggin sardines in hot ass areas and just wait. Then, coming back we had to go thru customs which puts your ass outside, then you have to lug your luggage (notice the pun?) 3 blocks and go thru goddam security all over to get to your flight. We wasted a half day there each direction.
