I got my guy up to 59 before I rerolled. I was one hand and bow. With a Legendary bow and Daedric arrows I could take out 2 dragons at once and never drink anything. I might use a shout to bring them down, or a shout to keep them down, but 2 dragons was cake. I've had monsters that were harder to kill. It wasn't always that way though. Sounds like you need a companion that can't be killed. Aela would be that.

Buy daedric arrows at the fletcher in Solitude. Then, give just one to your companion and take away their iron/steel arrows. Suddenly you'll notice daedric arrows showing up in corpses that they shoot. Or, better yet, go to the target shooters in Solitude and reverse pick pocket a daedric arrow in their inventory, and steal their steel arrows (either with the perk of stealing equipped items, or wait until they are asleep in barracks and pinch them. When you get it set, they'll be shooting daedric arrows at the target and you can collect them until you get bored.

A thing to be aware of is the scaling.

If you focus on non-combat skills or spread yourself too thin, the difficulty scales up faster than your combat abilities. I made the mistake of leveling smithing, enchanting, alchemy and lockpicking all in a short period of time. I gained like 10 levels off of it and not a lick of it was in combat skills. As such, dragons and other monsters scaled up 10 levels of difficulty, but I was still behind those levels in combat skills.

I've since focused back on combat skills and the 100 smithing and enchanting lets me make some fearsome gear and all is right again.

If you max smithing, enchanting, and alchemy you are damn near invincible even with gimped combat skills and how can you ever die when you can make a potion with wheat and blue mountain flowers that restores 200 health?

I have never died to a dragon and I went to 30 mainly as sword and board. Now I'm leveling archery and it's even easier.

Do +enchanting items exist?

I have Fortify Smithing and Fortify Alchemy, which I've disenchanted and subsequently enchanted onto other gear.

But I've never once encountered +enchanting gear. I suppose it could be exploited if they didn't put limits on it (craft +enchant gear, equip, use to craft better +enchant gear, repeat for massive enchant bonus).

Also, on a related question, I've read several places that you can get enough Fortify Destruction enchants that your destruction spells cost nearly nothing to cast. I've enchanted 3 or 4 pieces of armor/jewelry with Fortify Destruction and it gets like a 72% reduction I believe (18% * 4 if I recall...not at home to check). If I can get better than that, how do I do it?

So, I took some of the advice, and I've killed 4 since I started this thread. Pretty easy once you get them on the ground and keep them there.

No + enchant gear only potions. And no +alchemy potions. Too easy to exploit.

To get 100% reduction on your Destruction and one other magic skill you need to max out alchemy and enchanting including neccesary perks. Make 4 items for fortify alchemy. Wear em. Make 4 fortify enchantment potions. Make 4 new items for fortify alchemy. Wear those. Make 4 more fortify enchantment potions. The max you can make without using the Fortify Restoration exploit is a +29% alchemy item. Four of those will get you a +32% fortify enchantment potion. Make four of those, and make yourself 3 or 4 fortify destruction/fortify whatever items. That will put you close to (3 items) or over 100% and cast for free.
