She actually lost weight because of some med they took her off. She's very medicated all the time because of her diabetes, and diabetes doctors don't consider the fact that when they ask about her diet, she's probably lying a lot, and so instead just prescribe medications to help.

type 1 diabetics have a much bigger restriction list than just sugars, because their pancreas doesn't work at all anymore they have to limit other carbs and high fat foods as well.
sounds like she's failing to control her disease. The type 1's that I know are all on the thin side because of their restricted diet.
