Short version: guy said he was 30 pounds over his weight limit a week ago and still 11 over now. he's probably gonna be still dehydrated when he fights.

i guess we'll see!

Probably.

Wrestlers in colleges all across the country have been doing it for years.

Weight class is 120-150 you want to be 149.
Bulk up to 160 and lose 10 pounds the week before the competition.

fighters usually gain back their weight after the weigh ins.

i don't think you know what you're talking about. 30 pounds isn't normal like you imply it is.

I didn't say that it was normal.

I just said that athletes in all sports have been doing stupid things to their bodies for years in the name of gaining a competitive edge.

In wrestling, it's large amounts of weight loss very quickly.

It's not healthy or smart, but they do it.

it's great that you also know about weight-cutting. thank you for sharing.

so back to the thread.

the title was, is weight-cutting a problem in mma?

i think it is. i've seen a lot of fighters gas really early and you never know why for sure but it makes you wonder.

on one side you have dana white saying your job is on the line to lose this weight, it's an advantage, there's a lot of money on the line. on the other side you have your health. I don't think having a doctor there saving you from dying makes it ok.
