Perhaps a better way to phrase the question for your purposes is to ask; How happy (or satisfied) are you with your life?

6. Still job hunting, but I'm not hurting for money.
Have some good friends.
Have had a job offer that I felt safe in turning down.
I'm warm, have a vehicle, have the internet, have food...
Not as happy maritally as I could be, but eh it has its ups and downs.
I really can not complain, but I'll be happier when I have a job.

I gave myself a 9. I have a great job that pays me very well, a beautiful wife of over 25 years, 3 wonderful children, no major health problems etc. The only reason I didn't give myself a 10 is that I sometimes forget how good I have it and I can be a grumpy old man at times. I think I need to see a therapist for that because I really have zero reason to ever be grumpy.

no job, no woman, I have epilepsy, and some terrible allergies year-round so I sleep like crap every day...
5/10? I think it would be a lot different if I had a different personality type...I'm just not a go-getter, and it doesn't help that I was restricted so much as a teen (no driving until I started college, and even then I could only drive to/from school, and when I had seizures I couldn't drive for 4-6 months after that). So I wasn't able to get a job because I couldn't drive often enough...Now if I lived in a bigger/better city, it would be different, but public transport here is crap ( hour and a half ride from school to my house on bus...).
But I'm still alive, and now I have my degree (computer science)...so hopefully I can get a half-decent job doing ANYTHING and then move away in a few years where I won't have to work around the epilepsy when/if it causes trouble so badly...On that note, anyone want to hire a CS grad with no professional experience? lol yeah, I probably wouldn't either.
