I think some of you might be a tad out-of-touch with reality if you can honestly defend this kind of behavior from a public employee.

who is defending him?
it's more of what he did has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with drug testing.

Test the welfare recipients for drugs, and kick his ass out of office for being a drunk bastard.

One shouldn't drive drunk.

One shouldn't take welfare, corporate or otherwise, and spend it on illegal drugs.

The two statements are not dependent upon each another.

what does testing welfare recipients for illegal drug use have to do with drinking alcohol and driving?

They already tried this somewhere, it saved the state something in the lines of $20k, but they spend over $100k administering the test.

it's NOT worth it.

It was Florida.

They gave applicants several months to comply and the first batch of volunteers had 98% pass.

Because obviously so many of them who were abusing it would be lining up to do it

Welfare is a terrible program anyway.
I support drug testing, but honestly if we are going to spend the money to do that we may as well spend that same money
on making it a reimbursement system instead of a cash payment system.

Can't spend the money on illegal drugs or alcohol if you have to show receipts for every single penny of the governments money.

No big deal, he was just drinking. It wasn't like he was killing himself and children by smoking the reefer

If we just stopped having the government give people welfare, it would save 100% of it.

Enough said.

I don;t have a real issue with the concept but it should be applied to corporate welfare recipients as well. If not, drop it.
