hide in the yard with an airsoft gun, when they start throwing snowballs at your car pelt them good.
a couple years ago kids threw snowballs at my car as I was driving by, but it was in our neighborhood so I was going like 5mph. I stopped the car, got out and grabbed hold of the kid by the arm of his coat (just fabric in my hand) and told him I'd beat him bloody if he ever did it again. He said he was going to go tell his mom, I said... yes lets go tell your mom what you've been doing! while we're at it lets call the cops! He changed his mind then and apologized.
every kid in the neighborhood straightened up after that, it only takes one crazy MoFo that won't put up with it.

Had a couple of kids do that to my wife and daughter one night. Almost caused her to wreck. Called the sheriffs office and they came through in an unmarked vehicle.... the situation went down hill for them at that point. Then they got real stupid and tried to snowball the house one night..... real smart running from my yard through two neighbors yards right back to their house in the snow..... real brain trust there.

it does depend on the age of the kids, the ones around here were at the time all sub 10, so they were still frightened of adults. Once they hit about 12, they get much bolder, and do stupid crap like what you described... as if you wouldn't see the tracks in the snow from your house to theirs.

Yep... 14, 14, 13 and 12. Deputy had to call in a second unit to haul their arse to jail.

That ride was meant to scare the 7734 out of them... worked for 3 of them. The 4th one got really stupid and attempted to escalate things even after I had him and his parents served with no trespass notices. That ended up in court.... several minor charges... criminal trespassing, etc.
