I've decided to venture out into the white world

I can't go faster than 20 mph with the auto socks or they catch on something in the wheel well.
I went to my mom's and came back, stopped for food. Crazy ass people tailgating and thinking they can do 50mph just because they have 4 wheel drive. I thought one guy in a little Honda was gonna try and push me out of the way. impatient jackasses geez. (I did use available pull outs to let people pass me.)

there is just very little clearance, which is why I can't use chains at all. The genius that owned the car before me put 15" wheels on it, which just barely fit. If I go any faster the centrifugal force pushes the sock thingy outward, causing it to make contact with the stuff that is shouldn't.

I have wondered how those socks work, doesn't sound that great based on what's going on with you. I ran in the 4" of fresh snow this afternoon, better than driving with the crazies around here.

I can't use chains, the socks are super easy to put on and take off, I wouldn't base your opinion on my car, cause my car is kinda effed up with the wrong sized wheels. There is just barely enough room for me to put my arm between the tire and the wheel well, it's like a 2" clearance.
Edit: and they work better for traction than chains on compact snow and ice, but not great in slush.

Don't know that I would never use them but it's interesting. Half the time I drive a rear wheel drive car, even in the winter, so much fun.
