I can't believe my wife thinks the bathroom she wants is too expensive.

We went to Home Depot yesterday to talk to a bathroom designer and get pricing for materials. For the tub, sink, toilet, flooring, fixtures, mirror, lighting, heaters and other assorted hardware we estimate $3500. I will do most of the work except some plumbing, electrical, and flooring install. She had no idea it would cost that much? Are you kidding me? So she wants to wait maybe a year or two.
She wants a nice vacation this year. I thought we had already decided to go to Baltimore to visit her family. No, she wants to do something different. Hawaii? No. Alaska? No. Mexico? No. She wants to take two weeks and hop in her van and fo see Yellowstone (because I always wanted to go there) then head on down to Fort Smith, Arkansas and visit her friends. I get it, you're homesick......not for your first home but for your second home.

No. Actually the tub we wanted all along is large enough I would have to tear down one wall then rebuild it and resheetrock it after it's in. We get there and find that one that will fit is like $50 more in the end because it does not include an inline heater and she's all for me tearing down a wall and rebuilding it now. She knows what I can and can't do and knows I will not attempt to do what I am not comfortable with. She even suggested I do the tile and grout work and I told her I didn't feel like learning that now. I don't want to be on my hands and knees. She decided on Linoleum then.

Yeah, she's now thinking 3 or 4 years. I am thinking she has to get used to the idea. A vacation and one year. And she's kind of weird. She worries about bedbugs so she wants to fix her van up to sleep in. OK, we can do that. Shower at truck stops. No problem. I'm all for making a cheap vacation of it. Plus, if we take her van and not the Challenger we can both share the driving. One drive and the other sleep.
