What have you actually tried? Exercise, outside hobby, friends? *Are you self medicating with pot or alcohol?
Exercise, yes. Trying to get into some sort of shape. I lost 30ish lbs last year, gonna lose another 35 or so, then start lifting to gain some back in muscle mass.
Haven't changed hobbies, but I really don't have much time anyway, with work and school. Read mostly. Video games when I get a chance. Hang out with friends when there's time, which isn't often anymore.
I've cut back majorly on drinking over the last couple of years. A beer or two a week. Haven't been drunk in god knows how long. I cut back on the bud, too... usually only when I can't sleep.
Good for you man! I have nothing else then. I will take it at face value that it sounds like you are at least trying. Maybe your doctor is a dick.
I would just suggest getting out of the house more, church, social gatherings (without alcohol), volunteer work, etc etc. Much better chance of meeting a nice lady to help change the tide.
Good luck.
*However, you really need to quit smoking pot and drinking completely for best results. Both are depressants, so it is hard to make a real case if you self depressing. And my guess is it a smidge more than you indicating here.

If you think my opinion is idiotic, re-read yours.
Dont worry I will give my opinion anyways.
The PvP MMO is NOT a "niche" market, Mythic is just a "niche" company.

this is why primary care doctors are so pressured to write a script. one time they don't want to write one and woosh there goes their customer to some less scrupulous doc who will. and since primary care docs get paid the least they need more patients than anyone.

It's less the fact that he won't write a script and more the fact that he pretty much just said "suck it up" and accused him of just trying to get drugs, instead of actually taking a minute to listen and at least try to verify the validity of his patient's complaint.

he didn't take a minute? whoa were you there or something?
i've worked in a primary care office before. a person walking into that office who isn't looking for the doctor to "do" something like order a test or write a script is a mythical beast. they probably had to pay a copay and want something tangible out of it. if you're there for allergies you want some allergy medicine yattaa yatta yatta.
plus, if your problem is depression you need more than a 30 minute office visit to get sorted out. that's not what most primary care guys can feasibly do for you. if your patients are medicare, or hmo you will probably go out of business if you spend the time it takes to investigate depression in all your patients. if ur patients are on medicare/hmo you might have to see at least 15 patients a day to make ends meet (total guess).

Really? When I go into the doctor I'm looking for answers, not necessarily drugs- whether it's regarding me, my husband, or my kids. In fact, the only reason I accept drugs is when it's absolutely necessary. Fortunately the only things so far we've needed prescriptions for are allergy meds- and now that Allegra is over the counter we don't even need to see the doc for that. Of course, we rarely ever see the inside of a doctor's office apart from well-child visits. Heck, I haven't even had a primary doctor for myself for...at least five years (although I should). I'm pregnant so I'm doing the prenatal visits with my OB-GYN now, however.
But you're right- if the problem is depression it'll take more than a 30 minute office visit to sort it out. If the primary care doc can't spare the time for whatever reason then I would expect him to refer his patient to a doctor/specialist who can, instead of blowing him off.

wtf would a drug-seeker use depression meds for? I can't imagine the street value of Prozac is particularly high...
Maybe you shouldn't have walked in and said, "I have depression real bad, can you please give me some Valium?"

I avoid meds like the plague that they are. Insurance companies love me because I don't use their benefits.
