Can't have the first lady dressing like a peasant farmer though. WTF would that say about our nation?

there is a huge margin between a peasant farm wear and wearing gowns that cost more than some people make in two weeks worth of work.

or two months

That's only $62k a year. That's near poverty in many places in the US.

Granted, where I live that's a very healthy wage, but it would hardly make you rich.

This will crush Obama in the the debates come election time.

O: Your leveraged buyouts cost thousands of people their jobs.

R: Yeah, well your wife wore an expensive dress to the biggest speech of the year.

Is the economy really doing that well that you have to use this to meet your post quota?

Just like the ski lodge with young women looking for husbands and husbands looking for young girls, the situation is not as symmetric as it first appears.

I'd take a 62k a year job in a heartbeat and be happy with that for a looong time if I lived where I live now...that's about what both of my parents make together, and we live quite comfortably.

maybe she didn't buy the dress at Barney's? I'm no expert on clothing, but you can usually find stuff cheaper in different stores...and wtf does it matter how much her dress costs anyways? If she isn't bankrupting the family, I don't care. They get a salary for being the first family...if they want to spend their money on stupid isht, they can go right ahead.

I saw the best minds of my generation destroyed by madness,
starving hysterical naked, dragging themselves through the streets,
angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection
to the starry dynamo in the machinery of night.

Localizing this to any particular First Family is foolish.

She doesn't buy a thing. Its all given because its free advertisement for the designers.

She will probably donate them when she is done wearing them (once).
