There are apartments without dishwasher?
I use the term "apartment" loosely. I've never lived in an actual apartment building, but rather houses broken up into different apartments. But none of them have ever had a dishwasher.
I've heard that dishwashers are actually more efficient (water usage) than washing dishes by hand.

The last time I didn't have a dishwasher was back in the late 70's when our first house didn't have one. That lasted less than a month.
