He ought to be - not too much of a difference.

Perfect landings my ass, his hands definitely hit the snow on that last one. He almost fell forward.
First of all, it has always been that your back hand is allowed to hit the ramp as long as it is a certain distance down the ramp. It did not help him stabilize at all and it is very difficult to keep that hand from hitting while trying to balance.
That said, the only reason he got a 100 was because it was his victory lap. He had already won the competition and most other boarders would have just taken an easy run down the pipe. He instead decided to pull 2 tricks that have never been done in competition before. One I believe had never been done by anyone, anywhere. The 100 was probably more of a sign of respect for how amazing the guy is and how committed he is to giving the audience a good showing.
The guy progresses the sport every time he goes down the pipe. It is complete dominance of a sport.
Yeah, basically everything that the announcers said. Some people are stupid, though.

The guy truly is a stellar athlete.
He is not only the greatest snowboarder of all time, he is also a top skater and surfer... or at least was he may have retired from those sports. But regardless the fact that he can dominate 3 distinct (they all have their unique ride styles, hell surfing and snowboarding are completely reversed, and trick setups) aggressive sports is quite a feat.
Yet he has not only mastered most of the tricks he has invented his own!

Video is? It's not loading nor are there links to any video when I visit the deadspin article. It is late at night and I apologize if I'm just being blind.

It isn't a perfect run. Someone could do better, as in they do the same tricks but their hand doesn't hit the wall. Or they land without spraying snow in the air. If someone could do his exact same run, but with those two things they should win. But, with a perfect score the best you could do by a better run is a tie. Boo.

That's why you have more than 1 run which contribute to a competitor's score. And it is nearly impossible that a snowboarder could do multiple runs of this quality in a row. If athletes become extremely better for some reason in the future, so such runs become common, they'd adjust their scoring schema since the athletes would be capable of much more.
In actuality all the points could've made that run OVER 10.0, so even with any small inconsistencies which 'could' bring it down .1-2, it would still be at 10. But it's a spurious claim that hand touching wall or spraying snow has anything to do with being a good snowboarder.
