what about a cruise out of Florida? The one I went on to Alaska was pretty cool for kids, they had their own "bar" of sorts and an arcade besides all the pool and mini golf, basketball, and rock wall climbing. Some of those boats even have surfing.
This sounds interesting. Was it terribly expensive?
she took a cruise to alaska out of florida? holy hell, even the US Navy doesnt do that transit route...

How old are your kids? That's a pretty consideration when deciding on a family vacation. Depending on their ages, they might not enjoy it as much as you think they would.

Hawaii is pure awesome (or at least Oahu). There are a ton of sites to check out beachfront condos or houses to rent for a family vacation. Cool thing about Hawaii is all beaches are public, so there are tons of places to access a beach. One thing to also check out is luxurylink.com, they sometimes have REALLY good deals on some nice places.
One thing to note about Oahu, though, is that the winter months have big waves on the north shore, so you probably don't want the kids in the water on the north shore. The Ko'Olina Lagoons are nice and you can't beat some of the natural beaches on the south and east shores.

Foxy, we both know you NEVER invite someone to Galveston/Crystal Beach. Upon entering the water, the skin's pigment begins to adapt to the colors around it.

Yes, ages of children matter for destination. Akumal on the East side of Mexico is a great little community. Tulum is to the south and there are lots of ruins in the area (plus awesome beaches). Of course Im biased because I have a 3 bed/ bath house with a pool on the beach I can use whenever (courtesy of some well off relatives). Felt very safe there.
We took our teenage girls to Cabo last year and the Big Island 4 or so years ago. Mexico they were eh about (no cell phone service for them - they didn't need it!). My youngest at the time (13) had the most fun as she is outgoing. She even danced with a bunch of drunk people and the dj at a beach bar (Billigans or The Office I forget). And being sober, she was the best dancer up there! Hawaii they love but they also like to do $$ things (grandma spoils them).
Myself..I love Disneyland. Been 3 times that I know of in my 45 years. The last time was the best! (kid at heart)
How about Fl?
