Why is the media making such a big deal about Josh Hamilton?

Sad story. People just like to see people get embarrassed. We're a voyeuristic society. That's why shows like TMZ succeed. People love seeing a hundred million dollar celebrity fall on their face.

Several reasons:
1) Because Hollywood recently recognized his efforts, and being a darling of Hollywood gives him additional latitude with the rest of the MSM.

3) And finally, bearing in mind 1 and 2: because it's an election year.
I wonder how people like you fall asleep at night. Isn't it just exhausting to have your brain drawing those kinds of dots together all the time?

Were you following baseball the last couple years? 
The media REAMED Miguel when he was out drinking (with White Sox players, their weekend opponent) and got busted at the end of a couple seasons ago and they absolutely hammered him last year when he was busted drinking and driving down in Florida because he was a repeat offender.

Actually if you had read the huffpo story about Josh Fox that I read first thing this morning when I woke up, connecting those dots would not have been an issue at all lol.
Admittedly though, yeah, I was still thinking about that story when I misread this thread title heh...

Sure the guy relapsed but the fact he will seek help isnt a failure. he is one of the best players in the game when sober and he has seeked treatment in the past.

the media does not think things through...they are all about shock factor!
saying a high profile junkie is boozing it up draws more attention than saying a sober athlete is seeking help after a moment of weakness.
