I agree with you Mithan, the game is great. I just wish the beta was longer.

Mithan,

How do you feel about the fact that there is, as far as I can see, virtually no character personalization. Every *class* has the same skills, the same level at given character level, etc etc.

If I play a *class* and my buddy plays the same *class*, from what I understand we will be the exact same every level of the game besides items.

True?

There are like 7 or something Runes, and each one changes an ability in some way. Every ability basically has 7 versions of it. So, yes if you Rune all your abilities the exact same way, you will be identical. You won't, though.

Hey Mithan, at some point I might need your help to get one of the Co-Op Achievements. Getting the one to revive every class seems really stupid, as dying in the beta is pretty hard to do.

I'll give you a little on the Monk as it is the first class I will play on release.

The beta is definitely on Easy setting and it shows with the Monk. I finished Act 1 without ever using a health potion and I don't think I ever lost more than 20% health on any fight. I am not cautious either, big fights are what I look for so it wasn't caution that kept the damage down.

You don't get a lot of skills in Act 1 so not much to report. You unlock slots to put skills on as you level so in Act 1 you never get more than 3 maximum skills to put on your UI. You get Spirit building skills as well as Spirit consuming, think finisher, skills. You also get access to Buffs, I forget what they were called. I pretty much suck with the builder that projected spirit at a short range and the finisher that drew in mobs around you at a short range and inflicts damage to them all. For a while I also used a finisher that was basically a round house (aoe) kick that was nice.

I noticed a heal in the finisher column but never even considered using it as Act 1 is just so damn easy. Honestly, you have to jump into a mass of mobs and go afk to die in the first Act. You also get a companion towards the end and you can select some of his skills as well, one being a heal so you can also benefit from that as well.

The buff I eventually put on my bar was one that increased my dodge rate confirming my assumption that Monks would rely on evasion as we are Light Armor wearers. Everything seemed to point to a class that uses speed to dash in, unload gobs of damage, and dash out as required to mitigate incoming damage if it gets too high. Seems a very survivable class from the skills I could see.

You are a dual wielder and have access to a variety of weapons but the class defining weapons are the fist weapons (very reminiscent to UA weapons in AC).

As Mithan stated, crafting looks very useful as I could always craft armor and weapons better than the 3 vendors in New Tristram. It is also fairly easy as you salvage magical items (the higher the rarity, the higher the mats) for mats and sell the rest. Depending on the quantity and rarity of mats, you can craft equally rare weapons and armor. You can upgrade the Blacksmith NPC's skills to open up better recipes. He also repairs your gear.

Hope this helps some.
