I had a good laugh at the local right-wing moron's radio show about this. He implied that the UN was united on this, actually had the power to do this, and gave no details about exactly what and how much. At one point he mentioned "15%" but never said of what, and I have no idea where even that number came from as it's not in the proposal.
Right wing talking heads are really good at regurgitating their talking point memos and being mildly entertaining, but that's about it. Another local host on the same station recently nearly tripped on his bottom lip and broke his f**king head because he was talking about democratic elections in some other country, but has been conditioned to say Frank Luntz's piss-off-the-liberals "Democrat" instead of "democratic," yet in three of four tries he simply couldn't make it work.

friend of mine joined the peace corp out of high school in 1994.
she has gone repeatedly to this one village that her family trust sponsored...improved conditions last for at most 6 months.
Sounds like your friend spends her time getting high and playing tourist rather than actually doing her job...

Throwing money at something will not fix the problems... these places have been destroyed by capitalism/colonialism and the world exploiting them for their own benefit.
The U.N. should be using it expertise to help with Nation building and creating sustainable economies. People have lived in these areas for thousands of years just fine before they were pillaged... we need to help them build the institutions that were destroyed.
Also stop looking at this as a neutral thing... pretty much all of the third world is a former colony of some imperial power... if anything they should be forced to pay for what they created and not the rest of the world.
I fully support using the U.N. International Court of Justice to force these countries to pay back what they stole.

To make good policy, one must consider all ideologies and decide which best solves the reality of the situation. Ideology is afterall, JUST AN IDEA.

Waste of money.
A better use of money would be forced sterilization for about 3/4 of the worlds population.
