Let me explain my problem. The screws won't go back into the wood because the wood is uhhh... the screw holes are now too big.
Simple fix, depending of course, buy some bigger screws. Take pics go to Home depot, bat your eyes. Serious, they will tell you what and how. *And take some of the old screws with you.

If the screw holes are now too big (because you just had to mangle the door and strip it all out/break the jamb, nice job) then you go get bigger screws. If they were interior brass jamb casing screws go get some 2inch drywall screws and sink them deeper into the stud behind the jamb and stop breaking [edit].
