Just since this has been in the news lately and is being tossed around.

Yup....for the gender equality they wanted and all that
then when female soldiers are getting captured and repeatedly raped perhaps we won't be so gung ho about going to war with every little no name country that argle blargles

Some things that have come up on the subject:
- Watching women killed in battle, and the psychological effect this has on men on the front lines
- Whether women should be also eligible to be drafted as a part of this change
Some have commented on this already.
- Whether women would be appropriate for long in-field assignments in a combat role or only as day patrol type roles
- Whether hormones between the women and men in combat roles together would be a compromise to the mission requirements

I can not speak from any experience and I am happy about that, but I fail to see a difference in watching a male or female friend die in battle. They seem equally bad.

then i'm guessing you weren't in the military....even in the marines with their typically strict weight standards women were still round pumpkin blobs....sure you had the occasional thin chick or the very rare amazon chick....but on the whole....99% of those women would not be able to fulfill combat roles
combat requires carrying heavy gear that most women can't bear for long periods of time....combat requires the ability to at least drag someone to safety if its required.....i don't think i saw any female that was able to throw a grenade further than 10 feet
who would rely on someone like that and trust your life to them?
