Haha when my husband was in the Army, they went to Kuwait at one point and were in the middle of nowhere. Tents only, no AC, no facilities, no nothing. He pranked the officers/senior enlisted really good one day, but it was a silly prank, nothing to even really write him up for, definitely not article-15 worthy. But they also just couldn't let it go.

Well the "waste management" was taking all of the...erm...waste...and burning it with diesel in these huge metal drums. The grunts did the actual burning but an NCO had to supervise. So they promoted him to corporal, which kept him at the same pay grade, etc. etc. but "technically" made him an NCO, and put him on isht-burning-supervision duty for the rest of the deployment.

All I'm sayin is...it ain't necessarily a promotion.

Dunno lol, never saw it. The thing was they were required to rotate the grunts on isht duty, so they couldn't just make him actually burn stuff the whole time. But they could make him the NCO "in charge" of the whole thing, for the whole time.
