Stone me, call me a blasphemous heathen, whatever- I just do not get what the big fuss is over red velvet cakes/cupcakes. It's just a cake that's a cross between butter/buttermilk cake and chocolate cake, with a metric ton of red food coloring dumped in and topped with cream cheese frosting. Thanks but if I want cake, I'd rather have it without an ingredient that will probably make it look like my innards are bleeding the next time I use the restroom.
Gimme a rich chocolate cake any day. Black velvet, anyone?

Most of the time if I want cake, I want a rich butter cake with chocolate frosting. Most chocolate cakes are super dry, bleh. However, I have the most amazing recipe for a from-scratch chocolate cake with the most beautiful billowy light chocolate frosting, and it just turns me into a limp puddle on the floor when I eat it. SO DELICIOUS
