I've never understood how it can be considered racist to require a photo ID to vote...

minorities cant afford the fees associated with getting a driver's license is why. Granted all their money goes into drugs or lowing their rides and getting expensive rims /racist

http://www.dmv.org/in-indiana/id-cards.php $13 every six years. All states don't have these? edit: "If you can't afford to pay for a state ID card, you may be issued one for free if the proper documentation is presented." What was that again?

wow I was obviously kidding...lighten up, Francis.

well YOU may have been kidding, but this is the common and only reason against it.

Considering how many people are in the United States, 1.8 million isnt that much. Couldnt it be possible that many people are recently deceased and just have been taken off the voting registrars yet? 1.8 million over the course of four years(the down time between Presidential elections) doesnt seem that large. Also just because someone is registered doesnt mean they cast a vote. Voting fraud I guess would be easier with a registered dead person but at face value registration is just an accounting of people who are eligible to vote.

you say that but it was narrowly decided to keep Bush for another term in Florida where that margin might have decided the presidency.

that would be true if the 1.8 million were all in one state, they werent. As far as I can understand 1.8 million was nationwide. If 1.8 million was the average per state then that would be more like asking for wide spread corruption. lol

it was left up to the state of Florida to decide the presidency and maybe it wouldn't have been had those votes not been there.

yeah, they need to just go ahead and require photo ID...most voters have a driver's license, and those that don't can go get a photo ID made easily (I had to get one to take my ACT for school...that seems less important than potentially choosing the person who will run the United States for 4 years).

the people saying no to it just don't want to lose all their illegal votes that they know they get.

Yep, or if the Supreme Court had not way over stepped its bounds.

You have the wrong take-away from this. The larger issue is not fraudulent voters; it's legitimate voters who are in for a nasty surprise come election day.

Do you realize why Newt Gingrich and Rick Perry aren't on the Virginia primary ballot? At least Gingrich submitted over 10% more than he needed, normally plenty to cover any discrepancies which might arise. It was because Virginia chose to use the new verification rules for the general in validating the petitions, and anybody with the slightest error such as "Maple Road" instead of "Maple Street" was eliminated.

This report says 24 million people will have these types of discrepancies.

Election day is going to be extremely messy.

I agree with you combat. Voting should be taken away from the states and given to the federal government to control.

States have too much interests in their own elections and corruption has been rampant... maybe the Social Security cards/greencards could have a pict that needs to be updated every 5 years or something.

I think they did the best they could with the situation they were given. One of them had to lose and one had to win. By the time it got to the Supreme Court I doubt if anyone really knew who had actually won in FL. This was due to all the recounting and moving/destroying of ballots and everything else that went on down there.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the Supreme Court, voting is a state thing, they just didn't want to wait and bypassed their power limits.
