He was lucky it went down like it did, the possible alternatives indicate he should re-evaluate his "save the world" choice of weapons and tactics.
When will you be firing a .50 cal warning shot in your neighborhood and reporting back? You seem to think it is no big deal so it would be easy to replicate, right?

Make sure you turn the gun sideways before you fire it so you get maximum "damn, he bad" points.
Then you just have to work on your dropping the used clip and tossing a new one into the air and have it land directing in the now empty slot skills.
