i also like how it implies it's super useful for people too poor to eat the whole one. god what's it like to live in a place where they aren't common?

Back when i was growing up in Hawaii, we had this, like 50+ year old avocado tree that dropped so much fruit we couldn't keep up with it. It was a BIG avocado too. It was the pear shaped one, but was about just under a foot long. By the time that tree was dropping for the year, we had overloaded friends and family with fruit, and had too much ourselves as well.
I think it's a texture thing..I have always hated avocados.
Mom loved just cutting one open, sprinkling sugar on it and eating it right out it's own skin.

eww why would you put sugar on an avocado? that's so wrong.  but yes i will cut them in half and just go at it with a spoon. we get them so cheap we eat them every night. i dunno what kind they are, they're small so there's always several in each salad.
