I generally don't think its funny at all when straight guys say gay stuff to eachother and think they're being funny.

he starts talking about the apollo space program too. he's also, coincidentally, one of the gods from the dragonlance world/series. which makes about as much sense as him talking about earth i guess.

Zifnab. He's not breaking the fourth wall, and there's a very good reason why everything he says seems so out of place.
Finish the series. It's one of my favorites.
The 2nd book is kind of weak, imo. The third and sixth are probably my favorites of the series, especially the third. Fire Sea is amazing.
