living in LA, if the freeways are clear there's no chance I'm doing less than 75 or 80.
however, when I see a**holes in their sportscars swerving between cars at crazy speeds in my rear view mirror, i love matching the speed of the cars beside me so they can't pass and witnessing their irate faces as they tailgate me. it makes me warm inside.

If you are driving 35 on a 45 road where everyone is trying to go 60 -- YOU are the problem and are causing tons of turbulence on the road and while you might not be in an accident you may well cause accidents.
Thing is though -- that could get you a ticket for impeding traffic flow as well.
I am not saying you need to go 50 in a 45 -- but at least speed limit.

The is one section of route 22 out here where the speed limit posted is 25 around the bridge and 35 for a good distance past it.
The AVERAGE speed of people going through is 53 through the 25 and 63 in the 35. When the road is going fast it is more like 58 and 68. If you were to go through there at speed limit I wouldnt give you odds on living for a month.
That is the one road where I actually do go 10-12 miles over the speed limit and I feel really endangered due to not going even faster. I avoid this area of that highway when possible.

As long as you're not doing it on a 2-lane road, I don't care. If you're impeding traffic, you're the problem, not the people getting irate with you.
If you're in the right hand lane on a multi-lane road or highway, that's fine, too. Just stay out of the damn left lane and I won't shoot you as I drive past.

Edit: glad other people agreed with this gem, lol. I got to the post that had some study about how speeding doesn't make sense and just thought whatever. Which then made the ask myself why I love speeding so much, even if I know it doesn't really save me much time. Then I remembered, oh yeah, because it's fun. That's why I've always done it.
You know what feels the best? When you get through a light that had just turned yellow, and all the cars behind you that didn't speed have to stop. WAHAHAHHA CYA LOSERS, THANKS FOR MAKING MY DAY!

I do 80 mph from here to tahoe every week. And I'm with the flow of traffic the whole time.
Is hwy 80 how you get to eureka? If so, yeah. That highway is clearly an impossibility. After driving straight from LA - that stretch was memorably frustrating - amazing redwoods though, lol

What's even better is when you cut someone off in heavy traffic and just make the yellow light, but the person I cut off hits the red light

lol, so true. When I'm coming up to a light, I find a spot on the road where if I get to it I will not stop no matter what if no one is in front of me...Usually it's where the solid white lines start between the lanes. And I'm always looking in my mirror lol'ing at the noobs who get stuck at the light.
