Author Topic: Why is it that holding down a 10 month old for diapering or clothing is more difficult [Locked]

My Daughter was born with a dislocated hip (Undiagnosed breech ending in emergency section) and spent the first 4 months of her life in this godawful contraption that held her legs spread eagled so that the ball joint would form correctly. Every time we changed her the thing had to be removed and you could see the happiness on her face when it came off, then the utter horror came when you finished changing her and had to put the thing back on. It obviously hurt and it genuinely felt like we were torturing her.

She was the most well behaved baby in the world being changed when that thing was finally gone for good. As a side effect of this she is now in fact the toughest child in the world, yesterday while dancing she managed to dive headfirst into a doorframe, you could feel the thump she made when she connected through the floor, my wife and I both jumped up ready to comfort her but she just got up said "ow" and carried on dancing. After staring incredulously at each other we noticed the brand new purple gumball sized lump on her forhead. It was only after we started to check the bump out that my daughter even noticed it existed and that she might in fact be able to score some sympathy and treats from it if she acted out!

I hope you checked her pupils.

Checked pupils, vision, asked her if she felt sick and monitored her for a couple of hours when she would otherwise have been napping

We are supporting Foxy's breasts I think. Or just boobs in general, I dunno. I do like boobs though.

When they got big enough to roll over and liked to torment me by doing so, I started changing them on the floor. Put baby on the floor, sit down next to her and throw a leg over her belly- just enough pressure to keep her from rolling over. Proceed to change diaper. Works great especially as they get to be a toddler, haha.

Velcro pad on her back and one on the changing table... also on the back of her arms so she can't use them for momentum. Problem solved. Get the industrial strength ones to counter her super-human baby strength.

obviously you haven't mastered the technique... usually by the second child you have it down.

the key is holding both ankles in one hand, and once you have the new diaper under her, you have to be faster than the speed of light.

every time i try the two ankles in one hand technique she is over on her belly faster than not.

use the elbow of the same hand that is holding the ankles to GENTLY hold the baby at its center of gravity area <stomach area>. you have to work quick with the other hand to get the diaper under the tushy and ready to be taped on the sides. with practice you can get one side taped before letting go of the legs to do the final side of the diaper.

The Oatmeal Butterscotch paired with a Snickerdoodle
turned my cynical penis into a happy vagina
Then after an Oatmeal Cranberry and Double Chocolate,
it made my new vagina spontaneously sing the Trolololo Song in an elevator.
