DE, Reapist and I both tried the one near us and found that it wasn't as good as everyone raves about around here, and rather expensive for what it was. So be aware that they might have regional differences.

The best fast food is pizza which can (not always is) be made from entirely whole ingredients.
The fast food chains make a lot of money on the multiplier which means that they need serious mass production and uniformity. They also don't need people who actually know anything or have any talent preparing their products. They just need people who can get through a simple training process and follow instructions.

Eh, making the dough from scratch isn't easy. That was my job for a while and you have to feel the humidity to know how to adjust the yeast and that just comes from experience.

That's my point, you need some talent to make real food. Once you have some talent, good ingredients and the right equipment, you can crank out a LOT of pizza in a busy location.

they must be regionally different. the one by my house is never greasy, the bacon is not fatty and is always cooked just the way i like it (crispy as hell.) and everything tastes great. the only thing i don't really like is their fries. they're always mushy. so i place my 5 guys order online, go to sonic and get tots and a drink there, then pick up my 5 guys burger and it's the perfectly unhealthy fastfood meal.

To make that happen here, it would be a 45 mile drive from one restaurant to the other, then 25 miles back home
