I was watching some old clips of Larry Bird, Pistol Pete, even Jordan. The style of play was much more enjoyable to watch. I think a lot of it has to do with the rules on traveling and carrying seemed to have changed. People seem to carry the ball every sing dribble, and then run 4 steps with the ball...

imo its because players opt out of college to early and don't develop the right skills. Plus the league encourages scoring so the scoring easier and the great shots and plays of the past are just not necessary like before.
