He'd have to pay far more for an individual Cadillac plan than a group would pay.
Not if everyone were shopping for themselves after companyies stopped having to buy them for their employees. Getting an individual plan now *IS* more expensive but that's because the whole industry has been screwed up by the government.

Your leverage would be to shop around to find the least expensive plan, just like it is with any other good or service you buy. The game is so rigged right now it's hard to even imagine it being efficient and cost-effective.

yeah, if the plan you want that covers your medications is too expensive, find a cheaper one that probably doesn't. are yo noticing how much leverage you have yet? it's like buying apples at the grocery store. exactly like apples.

It's harder to imagine that people actually believe any company would take whatever savings they'd get by not administering health insurance coverage and spending that on higher wages.

Or the smart employers offering to continue paying for health insurance so employees don't have to hassle with it, thus retaining them.

Once the companies are freed from the mandated administration of health coverage, they would begin to compete for employees from a different cost basis. If an employer didn't include health coverage as a benefit or pay you extra wages to pay for your own, you'd go work for someone else.
Mostly, this frees both employers and employees to find the fairest price and choice for everyone.
Making companies do things almost never works. The costs of the mandates get built in to the system. They're so far built in now that most folks can't even imagine the way jobs and wages would work without them.
