I just had my pine floor refinished a few months ago so it's smooth and shiny. My daugther was trying to "help" me move some firewood and accidently dropped it, leaving a very obvious dent in the floor. Halp.

they have wood fillers and epoxies but if your floor is done in a natural finish, I think you might be up the creek.

Maybe this will help:

I would just leave it though. We have two boys who already destroyed a small portion of our bamboo flooring we just put in. I figured I wont do anything (since it will just keep happening with boys) and call it "character".

Yeah,

I was thinking maybe a dark filler that matches the knots and putting a little poly on that.

Try sanding it, putting a wet towel on it so the moisture is absorbed and raises the wood, then sand it level and refinish.

angelheaded hipsters burning for the ancient heavenly connection

Use a hot iron over a wet towel to expand the grain of the wood to help push up the dent. This will destroy the finish though. So after you use the iron with the towel, let it dry, lightly sand it, stain if necessary and add some polyurethane.

put more dents in other areas of the floor, link them together and fill it with water, call it a moat

I survived to the end and got nothing out of it, but hey.
