Have you heard that Malia Obama, the president’s daughter, is reportedly spending her spring break in Oaxaca, Mexico? Allegedly, she’s jetting off with some of her classmates and 25 Secret Service agents to a country that the State Department has said all Americans should avoid. But something is different about the latest “Obama vacation controversy:” references to it are disappearing from the Internet — and fast.

Around 3:00 EST, a Telegraph story reporting on the event was the first to vanish (note how the url remains the same in the “before” and “after”):

he Yahoo News story that HuffPo links to makes no mention of Malia Obama or her Mexican vacation. That raises two possibilities: either HuffPo has made an error in its link, or Yahoo has also removed its “Malia in Mexico” story. The latter more likely considering that the “-obamas-daughter-spends-springbreak-in-Mexico” url is still present in the Yahoo story.

In fact, consider that the link to the Huffington Post article on Google now goes to the site’s main page. Alas, that story too has been taken down.

In addition to larger news organizations, smaller sites are also removing their stories.

maybe because 25 secret service agents aren't going to be able to fight off a company sized element of irregular drug kingpin soldiers. heck, 25 people is less than a quarter of the number of corpses they found in the latest mass grave down there. I'm sure the president would rather NOT have his child held ransom by a drug lord?

The internet is being scrubbed of any record of this. We can't know that the Obamas are big fans of outsourcing our tax dollars to foreign vacation spots.

im not sure why anybody would report about a young teenager, it's not as though shes doing anything illegal

this country is broke, and the president thinks it ok to send his child on a vacation that costs runs into the millions.

I am betting they took a C-17 to haul all the armored suvs and vehicles and a smaller jet was need to haul that group of people to Mexico, then the fact they probably had to rent the whole hotel,also never mind the per diem and salaries of all the staff involved.

just so a teenager gets to go to mexico with her friends.

president needs to learn to lead by example.

It sounds like it was part of a school trip.

I do not think the presidents kid should be denied the ability to do what every other kid can because of who their dad is and the risks involved.
