Whats really funny about this thread is ive spent the last hour researching how to ship some car parts to Saudi Arabia the most cost effective way and usps is by FAR the cheapest way its about $50 bucks everyone else is over the $200 mark

I'm fine with once a week or even once a month.
If you have a business and you need to mail crap more often than that, use UPS or FedEx.
Losing all those jobs will hurt, but we didn't keep paying a bunch of telegraph operators and telegram delivery people after the telephone was invented.

That works. Gives people who work M-F a chance to get to the post office. Anything more is just unnecessary.
Well when he said mail service I assumed he was referring only to delivery. If we're talking about delivery AND when the post office itself is open, that would change my answer.

They dont even deliver here so I have to rent a PO box and go pick up my mail.
As far as I am concerned it could be only 2-3 times a week.

I think most places could shut down the local post office without it affecting being able to mail things out at all. In our town, the local grocery store not only sells stamps, but they have a section where you can bring in your recycled bottles/cans (they do the refund thing here), drop off your dry cleaning, and mail anything USPS. There is always a person there except during the wee hours of the night, so it's MUCH more flexible than post office hours. I was going to have to wait till Saturday to mail a package because of Post Office hours, then I remembered I could do it at the grocery store- went in at 7 am and mailed it, easy as pie.
That would save a ton of money imo. The separate offices bleed money and are redundant, imo. Have someone come pick up the mail drop-offs at the various locations and take it to the sorting/distribution center. Have people deliver mail 3x a week to everyone unless they pay extra for overnighting. Seems like it'd work to me.
