The paste in the middle is probably bean paste. My wife likes it, I'm not a big fan of it.
Oh, and if they live in a little village over here chances are they don't have internet. I swear, the little town we live in is more backwards than most places in Kentucky. Hardly any businesses have a web presence and most people don't have email except on their phones which are about the only technology they do have.
But they sure are a hell of a lot friendlier than anybody in the states. And my god the service you get here, I think in three years I've had my food order wrong maybe a couple times total. I averaged that in a week in the states.
Back on topic though. Eat the damn thing Foxy, all the Japanese pastries taste pretty good.

We use to have japanese exchange students and they would bring these cookies that had a sheet of seaweed resting on top I loved the seawed cant even remember what the cookie tasted like.
