There doesn't appear to be any self defense case for Zimmerman even with "stand your ground "
Look at this from the kid's perspective. He was behaving in a perfectly legal way and some guy larger than he and armed was stalking him. In what way is the smaller and unarmed person in the wrong?
Add to this what we know about Zimmerman's reasoning and the cops telling him there is no need to follow and he should be arrested and tried.

could turn out to be another Rodney king beating dont' know all the facts and people jump to conclusions.
what wasn't show on tv during those beatings were Rodney charging the cops etc... they only show the clips where cops beat him.

it is true that not ALL of the facts are known, BUT there are very significant facts that ARE known.
1. he was told NOT to pursue.
2. he ignored what the REAL law enforcement said to do.

If the cops had arrested him after the incident and proceeded to investigate we may not have such a mess on our hands.
So far I've yet to hear anyone, except the chief, say that the stand your ground law applies. There was more than enough in doubt for the cops to arrest, investigate, and let the court sort it out. That isn't really all that complicated it is what cops are supposed to do.
