I'm to lazy to send you a PM.

Do you use 2 separate cues? One to break and one for play?

Just wondering.

Anyone else who plays feel free to answer this.

There's some delight in ale and wine,
And some in girls with ankles fine,
But my delight, yes, always mine,
Is to dance with Jak o' the Shadows.

When I was in league yes. Our team had a player that was well off so he let us use his $300+ break cue and I used my crappy graphite cue after the break. I never bring my cue to the bar unless it's league though. You don't want to really use your main cue for breaking as it slowly but surely effs of the tip (and shaft lulz.)

Edit: iirc your pink cue is very similar in type to mine... which is technically a break cue. How wide is the tip on your cue?

I can use my cue as a break cue - I just don't. Don't wanna eff up my tip or warp my shaft. After playing with house cues at the bars I go to I'd be pissed if I did that to my cue.

I was just wondering cause the bf and I were looking at cues the other day and I was thinking about picking up a break cue - however I was wondering whether or not I should get a heavier cue than my normal playing cue? But I think I answered that question - I play with a 20, and use a 21 to break.

But then again, I don't wanna tote another cue with my main cue, my purse, my jacket, etc, everywhere I go

Edit - yeah, it's a cuetec, so iirc it's pretty much the same as yours?

Well you could get a break cue but whenever one isn't available I always just use the heaviest bar cue ... Doesn't matter if it's warped to crap as long as it has a functional tip. Not like you're going to try and masse a break or something. But carrying around 2 cue's isn't that big of a deal. There are tons of cases made for 2 cues. But I don't see the point unless you're going to be using it all the time.

I keep forgetting that you bring your cue to the bar so you most likely get a LOT more use out of it than I do so it "might" be worth it but it's ultimately more of a frivolous purchase. Having a great cue only does so much for your game.

And yes I have a cuetec... don't recall the model but I believe we had this discussion before and your's was basically the girly version of mine.

As for the weight of the cue that's based more on preference. Typically the break cue is heavier and can put out slightly more force. But I doubt you regularly fire balls off the table while breaking and require some modified heavy ass cue. 19, 21, whatever. We're not talking about pounds we're talking about ounces so it's not a crazy difference.

Why am I not surprised that winga played in a league for a game that is usually played while intoxicated...and that RC is asking him questions about it?

RC: If you decide that you want to play in tournaments and make it a paying hobby then I could see getting a break cue and jump cue (or at least the attachment.) But if you're just playing for fun then I wouldn't bother with a break cue. I'd get a better playing cue long before getting a break cue.

My father practices with Larry Nevel on nearly a nightly basis. He is about on par with him skill wise.

Having said that both of them use a separate break cue. I doubt many people break hard enough to "need" a separate break cue.

When these guys break they drive the cue tip into the table and the entire stick bows.

I don't see RC or me reaching that level... ever. I also assume their main cue for after the break is somewhere in the $1500-$2500 range.

Edit: That's assuming they don't have like 4-5 cue's with them each time they go out.

Because I play a game that is usually played while intoxicated and my acf friendship with winga developed because of it and the fact that we both drink a bunch and play pool?

My original post got wiped out when I tried posting cause my work computer hates me - forgot to mention I always break with house cues. Or did I mention that? No idea.

I can feel the difference in a cue thats 19oz vs 21oz. Slight difference, but the lighter the cue the more it throws off my game.

Side note: most of the bars I go to here have crap-ass cues. Either that or they have a table but no cues. Thus why I bring mine everywhere... And also probably cause I take after my father who takes his cue everywhere.
