well my old sprinter was at every 10k.

Changing the oil in your car every 3,000 miles was necessary in the 1970s, when most cars used 10W-40 oil, which tended to wear out within about 3,000 miles. Thanks to improvements in high-quality lubricants and tighter tolerances in the assembly of automotive engines, the 3,000-mile baseline simply does not apply to many cars on the road today; in fact, automakers now recommend you change oil at 5,000, 7,000, 10,000 or even as high as 15,000 miles for newer models under ideal driving conditions. For example, Toyota recommends you change oil at 5,000 miles for a 2005 Tacoma pickup, Honda recommends 7,500 miles for its 2002 Odyssey, General Motors suggests 7,500 miles for its 2007 Chevrolet Malibu, and Ford recommends 10,000 miles for its 2011 Fiesta. A 2008 Porsche Boxster can go 12,000 miles between changes, and a 2010 BMW 3 Series can go up to 15,000 miles before you change oil under ideal conditions; with this kind of complexity, it’s easy for consumers to be confused.

ROFL, I'm in the same boat! I was going to have it changed a few days ago but they decided to close an hour early that day, so I had to add oil to it instead, figured I added two quarts of oil, I'm going to get my $10 worth, dammit!

lol, i totally ruin parking spots everywhere. Sucks W124 Mercedes engines have such major faults in their headgaskets. Switched to valvoline maxlife to hope to maybe seal in the gaps but I think the gunk was what was keeping it from leaking so bad . I'll go through 2 quarts of oil in just a matter of a couple of weeks.

I put 280k on a Ford 4.0L V6 changing it about every 8 - 10k and never once had to add oil. It all depends on the engine and how you treat it.

I drive a saturn, they're notorious for eating oil after they hit 100k miles, but if you keep putting oil in them, they keep on running. I just hit 190k miles, the engine runs great, I think the suspension is going to give out before too long though.

My 1984 mercedes 500 SEC takes 8 frigging quarts and a filter that you have to take apart.

Hell when it needs tires I get another one and change the oil in that one, lol.

It's cheaper.
