If you are taking all that crap and it isn't working, I suggest you see an allergist. I've never had to take that much stuff for my allergies.

I did see an allergist. All last year. Read original post lol.

I sent my husband to the store for Allegra. He came back with Claritan and Zyrtec (both of which I am ALREADY TAKING ARGH).

He said Allegra was too expensive

it's $20!

I know. I just bought some. He will buy a $8,000 hot tub for our house, but won't spend $20 on allergy medicine.

you need to show him some of those nifty moves to lay the 20 dollar SMACK down on his cheap azz.

I saw an allergry thread here a few days ago, but didn't click on it so I'm sorry if this is OFN.

I have horrific seasonal allergies. I'm a +4 on pretty much every living thing outdoors. I've been on a current cocktail of Flonase, prescription eye drops, Claritan in the morning and Zyrtec at night.

The crap isn't working. I wind up taking Benadryl at least two to three times a week and of course, it knocks me out.

This is no way to live.

I was seeing an allergist last year getting antigen shots twice a week and it was helping a little, but the day my daughter went into severe anaphylaxis (after they failed to inform me they were upping her antigen) and had to have a shot of epinephrine right there in the office (ambulance ride to the ER followed), we stopped going there.

What works for you? I've heard good things about Allegra, but I'm afraid that after awhile I will just build up a tolerance for it as I have the other medications.

Sucks.

You do realize that an allergic reaction is something they plan for in an allergists office and that is why they have their patients stay there a bit after getting the shot. Having a reaction is a stupid reason to stop getting the shots, if you didn't like the lack of communication you should have found a different allergist to see.

Yes, I do realize this. I'm not an idiot. It was my child that it happened to (once for her, EIGHT times for me at home) and we can't keep going to the emergency room every time we have anaphylaxis. That's retarded. The next closest allergist that would take our insurance is a 50 minute drive. Can't and won't drive an hour each way for a 20 minute appointment.

So drugging up it is. Which was my original question to begin with.

Thanks for input. I'm doubling my doses on everything until the Allegra comes in the mail.

you can also look into using a neti pot. heard lots of good things about those. It just helps you pour water through your sinus passages (in one nostril, out the other). They're apparently real good if you've been outside working in the yard or something...you use it and get all the allergens that you've been breathing in out of your sinuses.

they're cheap ($15-20 at most I think) and you just use plain water in them i believe. maybe distilled water.

California is for fruits and nuts. I'm a hippie and therefore, a perfect resident for metro Colorado. My allergies in NWPA had nothing on this though. i think it has to do with all the freaking wind.
