I hate my allegory med's the va has pretty much prescribed me everything under the sun.
The best thing for me is I to take a steaming hot shower and loosen all the mucus, blow it out and then I am good to for the day.

See an allergist. Allergy shots can cure your allergies, but it takes a long time.

When nothing else really helps, I take sudafed. It's the only thing that makes a difference.
Try getting some local, organic, unprocessed honey and use it in herbal tea. The antibodies from the bees will help boost your immune system. I actually had it clear up a sinus infection once before when I was sick over a weekend and couldn't get to the doctor's office.

If your allergies are that bad and medicine doesn't help you have two options:
1) Deal with it
2) Move to a place that doesn't affect your allergies
That's the hand you've been dealt.

If you are taking all that crap and it isn't working, I suggest you see an allergist. I've never had to take that much stuff for my allergies.
I did see an allergist. All last year. Read original post lol.
I sent my husband to the store for Allegra. He came back with Claritan and Zyrtec (both of which I am ALREADY TAKING ARGH).
He said Allegra was too expensive

never heard of taking both claritin and zyrtec in one day...both of those are 24 hour pills and do the same things, so you're basically just double dosing.
I started going to an allergist last august and started with allergy shots soon after. now I'm at 1 shot in each arm every friday that I do at home. I take pseudophedrine almost every night of the week during the spring and summer and about 4 nights a week the rest of the year.
you can take afrin (only 3 days in a row, then you need to lay off it for a few days or you will get dependent on it and won't be able to stop taking it). It lasts for 11-12 hours with 1 spray in each nostril. I use it on nights when I need to sleep well or if I just feel really bad.
also I've always heard that a tablespoon of LOCAL honey (not bought from the grocery store, actually find someone who makes honey nearby...you need to get honey from bees who use the same pollen you're breathing in) each day helps a lot.
For reference...my allergist told me I was the most allergic person she had ever tested since she's been doing it...in 20 years. She did the test where they barely poke you with the needle with about 25 different things on the needle. I was over a 7 on the scale on probably 85% of the stuff, and over a 9 on like 6 things. I had one type of grass (fescue I think it was) where I was a 14...which I think means the spot that she stuck me swelled up to 14mm across in the time limit which is like 5 minutes.
don't move to Memphis...if your allergies are that bad in Colorado, they would be hugely multiplied here. although I don't know why anyone would want to move here lol.

I know. I just bought some. He will buy a $8,000 hot tub for our house, but won't spend $20 on allergy medicine.

I saw an allergry thread here a few days ago, but didn't click on it so I'm sorry if this is OFN.
I have horrific seasonal allergies. I'm a +4 on pretty much every living thing outdoors. I've been on a current cocktail of Flonase, prescription eye drops, Claritan in the morning and Zyrtec at night.
The crap isn't working. I wind up taking Benadryl at least two to three times a week and of course, it knocks me out.
This is no way to live.
I was seeing an allergist last year getting antigen shots twice a week and it was helping a little, but the day my daughter went into severe anaphylaxis (after they failed to inform me they were upping her antigen) and had to have a shot of epinephrine right there in the office (ambulance ride to the ER followed), we stopped going there.
What works for you? I've heard good things about Allegra, but I'm afraid that after awhile I will just build up a tolerance for it as I have the other medications.
Sucks.
You do realize that an allergic reaction is something they plan for in an allergists office and that is why they have their patients stay there a bit after getting the shot. Having a reaction is a stupid reason to stop getting the shots, if you didn't like the lack of communication you should have found a different allergist to see.
