Yes, and I think Viserys was very good last year too.

I also think Sean Bean should have been given a different role, perhaps. I miss his strong screen presence already.

Like me for example. What with TV, video games and the internet, not many people are reading books these days.

That's BS. According to an AP survey, only 27% of Americans did not read a book last year and the other 73% read about 6.5 on average.

Thank you very much for bringing facts and data to this discussion to make me look bad

Yea, newest survey I could find on a quick look and after more than a few shots it's a wonder i can post at all.

The overall numbers don't seem to have changed much, just the way we read them.

Change in reading habits

One of the criticisms of e-Readers is that people who have them may download more books than they would traditionally purchase, but read at the same levels. So far this criticism is not holding true at all. Half of both e-Reader users (50% and non-users (51%) say they read the same amount as they did six months ago. However, while one-quarter of non e-Reader users (24%) say they are reading less than they did before (compared to just 8% of e-Reader users), over one-third of e-Reader users (36%) say they are reading more compared to just 16% of non-users.

A lot of people claim they read regularly when they actually don't.

I used to read quite a lot, but it was never anything non-fiction. I guess I don't value reading unless you're reading nonfiction, about astrophysics, mathematics and whatnot. The stuff I read was like...Lord of the Rings, Carrie, stuff like that. I don't think there's much difference between reading fiction and playing a video game or watching television.

and I don't like when people brag about reading when theyre reading Harry Potter and Twilight.

I don't read for fun, but I did read these books -- except for #5 as I am waiting for the paperback version

As much as I would agree with Sean Bean and a different role, it was perfect for him.

Hey Norm, you hear about the studies being done at Johns Hopkins about the Y chromosome of persistent bar troublemakers?
Yeah, they found a striking similarity between that and chronic droolers and idiots.
I miss Cheers sometimes....

a survey that I just flat out don't believe. The literacy rates can't even be agreed upon by different groups, let alone people actually reading books. I think probably half of those people are flat out liars.

Actually a really good point. Fiction is entertainment, but some people feel the need to brag about it like they're on the same level of people who read to learn.
