I've worked Christmas Eve every year here, and I think even a Remembrance Day once. Christmas Eve I believe is another 'optional' but I'm pretty sure Remembrance Day is a stat...

Except Veterans day is a real holiday. I know this because I get paid time in a half for working on that day. I don't get paid time and half for no Remembrance day...

You live in the wrong country then 
I checked...they were both called "Armistice Day" at one point. You guys now call it Veterans Day, and the Commonwealth countries changed it to be called Remembrance Day.
Same deal here. Statutory Holiday. If you work you get paid extra, otherwise it's a mandatory holiday and I should have had it off.

I think we divided ours up between Veterans Day (for the living) and Memorial Day (for the dead).
